In Orion's Seed, we are treated to a heart pumping global chase that is something like a mix of The Thing and Indiana Jones. After discovering some odd signals from beneath the Antarctic ice, a group of scientist explorers unearth a mysterious ancient artifact predating human history that seems in some way to have a life of its own. As it turns out, they are not the only ones looking for the artifact. As our protagonists try to understand the context of what they've unearthed, they must evade numerous operatives who will not stop until they've claimed the artifact for themselves. The book has an incredibly cinematic structure to it; (for better and worse) it is all action and movement all the time. This makes it incredibly easy and engaging to read, as the action is uninterrupted moving from event to event.

This is the first book I've read, this year, where there wasn't a day that I had to remind myself of my need to read, and where I kept reading beyond my daily allotment just for the pleasure of it. I was looking forward to picking it up every day, because, even though it wasn't the most complicated or literary work, it was just a fun read. Not every book needs to be more than that! And its conclusion is somewhat open-ended, leaving room for a sequel. Mike, if you decide to write that follow-up, I will absolutely be reading it!

This book caught my attention on the first page. I read it in one day. The plot moved perfectly and I really enjoyed the pages having time and date stamps. I’m 69 and it was great. The characters were well made . Several times I didn’t realize I was holding my breath until I huffed it out. I’m so hoping Mr. Bianco makes a series of Orion’s Seed. I’m looking for two or three more books. Thank you for such an amazing novel.
